Enjoy Stearns Park beach on Lake Michigan, across from our inn, complete with playground, shuffle board courts and concessions. Looking for more solitude? Go north on M-116 (Lakeshore Drive) all the way to Ludington State Park for miles of shoreline. Walk out to the Big Sable Point lighthouse and beyond. Or hit the beach below the campground on the Buttersville Peninsula, empty during the week and dog-friendly. Or visit the Hamlin Lake Sand Dunes.
Watch the sunset
Ludington's sunsets are some of the most spectacular in the world. Enjoy great sunsets right from your balcony, or across from our inn at Stearns Park Beach and the lighthouse.

Enjoy gaming and entertainment north of Ludington at the Little River Casino in Manistee.
Tour the lighthouses
Big Sable Point Lighthouse at the Ludington State Park is open daily in the summer. Take a tour and visit the gift shop. Call 231-845-7343. Also, the North Lighthouse in Ludington offers daily tours starting Memorial Day weekend.
Bike
Bicycling is a great sport in our area. Bicycle paths go through Cartier Park and all the way to and through the Ludington State Park. Call Trailhead Bike Shop 231-845-0545 to rent bicycles.

Play mini golf and more
The Ludington Jaycees operate a classic mini golf course right across the Avenue from Snyder's Shoreline Inn, featuring local landmarks in miniature or try AJ's Family Fun Center, on US-10 across from Wal-mart, with laser tag, bumper boats and go-karts.
Treasure hunt
The Ludington area offers many opportunities for antiques enthusiasts, with unique shops in town and around Mason County. There are also numerous galleries and gift shops in downtown Ludington, as well as a number of arts and crafts shows throughout the seasons.
Take a walk
Walk the breakwall out to historic Ludington Point Lighthouse or follow the footsteps painted on the harbor walk, a half mile along the channel between Pere Marquette Lake and Lake Michigan, starting at the beach or the city marina.
Go fishing
The breakwall or the channel are excellent spots for casting a line. Ludington is also home to some of the best tournament caliber fishing in Michigan. Contact the Ludington Area Charterboat Association for adventure on Lake Michigan or charter a drift trip on the Pere Marquette River. Barnhart's Resort rents pontoons for fishing on nearby Hamlin Lake or at Ludington State Park.
Canoe or kayak
The Pere Marquette River is a national scenic river. Bring a picnic basket and a fishing pole for a relaxing time on the water. Take advantage of Ludington State Park's canoe rentals and canoe trails on Hamlin Lake. Contact Baldwin Canoe Rental or Pine River Paddlesports for rental information.
Cruise the dunes
Take a ride on the sand dunes at Silver Lake in Mears, south of Ludington. You can be driven at Mac Woods Dune Rides or take part in a driving tour at Sandy Korners. Parrot's Landing offers dune rides, plus quad, moped, ski-boat and jet-ski rentals.
Indulge your animal appetites
Visit the Amber Elk Ranch, complete with elk tours, petting zoo and gift shop just east of Ludington or check out the Llama Farm and go for a llama hike.
Go for a ride
Horseback riding makes a great family outing. Rainbow Ranch is family owned and operated since 1949, and features horseback riding, traveling pony rides, hay rides, sleigh rides and carriage rides.
Visit a winery
For local wineries near Ludington where you can indulge your love of good wine, check out Jomagrha Vineyards in Pentwater, Krolczyk Cellars in Freesoil, Tartan Hill Winery in New Era, and Douglas Valley, an organic vineyard in Manistee.

Relax with a good book
The Mason County District Library in downtown Ludington next to the Post Office has an extensive collection of reading materials available for check out. Ludington also has a bookstore carrying new books, The Book Mark and Espresso Cup Coffee Shop at the corner of Loomis and Rath, and used bookstores in our downtown. For religious books, try The Angelus on Ludington Avenue.
Visit local landmarks
Check out the Ludington pumped storage plant south of Ludington. It's the world's largest hydro electric plant. Visit White Pine Village, a lumbering community recreated on the Buttersville peninsula, south of Ludington. See the Pere Marquette Shrine on the Buttersville peninsula, a memorial to Father Marquette.
Visit Ludington State Park
Ludington State Park, the "Queen" of Michigan's State Parks is only five miles from
us, with a beach on Lake Michigan and another on Hamlin Lake. The park has
several picnic areas, and hiking and biking trails. Rent a boat, canoe or
pontoon and fish for walleye, bass, pike or muskie in Hamlin Lake. Ludington State Park also features the Great Lakes Visitor Center, an outdoor interpretive facility. It offers interesting displays, slide presentations, videos and live programs so visitors of all ages can better understand the local wildlife, geology, and history unique to the Great Lakes.
Visit West Shore Community College
The WSCC campus on north Stiles Road, east of Ludington, has many community facilities that are available for your enjoyment, including a wellness center, ice arena, and cultural arts programs throughout the year.
Tour area farms and markets
Ludington is surrounded by fruit farms and farmers markets, making our area one of the most delicious in the state.
